Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

I walked 2 miles today. I took a thick quilt or comforter like thing to the laundry mat and walked around the parking lot a few times and the grocery store. Was out of pickled okra. I put that in my salads. I found the best vinegar called sticky balsamic vinegar at the olive oil company close to my house. I put it on my salad then put some garlic olive oil on it. Good & healthy too. It is good on anything & everything.

I usually use their garlic & extream garlic olive oil.
I took my car at 7 AM this morning to the detail shop and it was closed. I thought today was Monday. These senior moments are a little to frequent.
Happy walking kids,
Jake

We plant the "little trees" in little brother's mashed potatoes to try to get him to try it, but to him if it's green, it's bad. He has also been known to remove the almost-invisible bits of broccoli from tomato based sauces like chili or spaghetti. What a difference between the brothers.

Candy is the best prescription for grumpiness. Cookies, cake, pies & pastry work well also.
Get your prescription filled and say goodbye to the grumpies.
Happiness is on the way,
Jake

I baked those cookies and made donuts, then I gained 5 lbs trying to eat off my grumpies. Guess that didn’t work too well, now I have to walk all of that off, ugh!!
I’ll leave all of the sweets for you.

@joybringer1. 😆 🤣 😂. Yes, for right now, dang it! Too many meds on board😩. I've still got four $50 gift certificates for my favorite restaurant, received just before Covid hit. Can't wait to see my meds go down and for the restaurant to be a healthier place to go to for wine and great food.
I've got my dining guests all planned out! Best, Laurie

@artist01, Oh what a wonderful plan you have! It will be lovely to dine in our favorite restaurants with our friends. I have not eaten in a restaurant since February of last year. I was ill and then Covid hit. I frequently look at the menus on line and salivate. My husband does prepare wonderful meals, but it would be great to be in our favorite restaurants. No one would have to cook and wash dishes! We all yearn for that time and can plan as you have. I hope you lose some meds soon! Onward and upward! @joybringer1
