I will tell you something I learned decades ago. I was a RN working full time; we had two little kids 16 months apart. My then about to be ex husband was finishing up his Master’s. Unbeknownst to me, he was about to abruptly walk out of our lives. Well, my BIG LESSON was you absolutely cannot take care of anyone or anything else well until you TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST! I am not yelling at you, but I am using caps because it was such a hard lesson to learn in a difficult way. But it is the absolute truth and the sooner you learn that, the better life will be for the entire household! Your children will not remember how clean your house was but they will remember that you loved them, snuggled them, read stories. I know many a time I literally dropped the vacuum on the floor when the kids wanted to go for a walk. That’s what they remember!
Please - give yourself a break. Are any of your children old enough to leave "in charge" for a short time while you sneak some Mom Time for a walk, bath or nap? Maybe in exchange for a special privilege that the others don't get - that's what my Mom used to do for me when raising 6 kids and working 2 jobs. By the way - instead of trying to take a nap in a house full of kids (with all the scary noises they make trying to be quiet) she would take her car to a nearby park, lay her head back and rest.
Remember, to be your best at work, you need to take care of yourself too. And the kids won't notice little things left undone at home.
