Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?
Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?
Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

I just returned from what felt like a spring walk here in MN. We recieved 6 + inches of snow and it’s been so cold. Today is almost 50 and the snow is pouring off the roofs... Feels amazing out there! I just said on Facebook that 2020 has been awful, but for those that like spring it has doubled up!
Thumbs up, in Mn as well and today’s walk was so welcomed with a little warmer temp. Keep it coming!!!
Warmer here in WI also! Took 2 dogs walking with me and leaves piled by roadside must have had fascinating smells - they both kept shoving their noses in the leaf piles! Maybe little critters have been sheltering in them? I haven’t seen a chipmunk in a week or so but saw one scurrying around today!
Hi everyone I'm back.... really I was embarrassed to post before because I couldn't do it with my heavy-duties ( two jobs & 5 kids ) it was impossible to get in
...but I'm trying to be realistic and try as much as I can maybe one day I could be fit & in shape again
@athoub You are doing great with two jobs and 5 kids. Do as much as you can, when you can. Sometimes you have to get up a half hour earlier, or go for walks on your breaks, spend time in the garden or yard, take kids to the park if one is available. No one said it is easy, any of us will tell you that! I, for one, am applauding you from the sidelines!
Ginger
@athoub. You have nothing to apologize for. A job and 5 kids? That's alot to take care of especially this year. I hope they appreciate all that you do. Don't forget to find some "me" time for yourself too. A nice bath perhaps? and Do Not Disturb sign on the the door.
I agree with Ginger and applaud you for all you do. Breathe and do something once in awhile just for you!
oh genger 😍...thanks for your motivation..its really rough years to build a good reputation in work and now coronavirus too 🙈
hehehe
yes that's absulately ture ....i miss "me time" with hard pressure in work and home
yes that's my problem ..i feel that i'm a superwoman i shouldnt do one thing on a time 🙈🙈🙈
