We lived on a farm and used to take a hammer and pound them on the cement to get them to spark and make the noise. It didn’t take much to entertain us.

@jude07 We did that too! The little guns that you put the rolls of caps in always seemed to break pretty quickly so we just used a rock on the sidewalk

@jude07 I lived on a farm too, not now though. I never thought of pounding them on the cement. One funny thing I did though was took a BB gun and went behind the hen house and tried to shoot the sparrows. I don't think it shot straight, never got one.
