@imallears, Welll, in my book sprinting counts big time too! vbg Thanks for the baby playing with his toes idea; that will help and also the L shape, scissors motion. I'll try that.

We had a lovely built in island in one house and it was in constant use. My daughter has one in her home now and finds it indispensable. My kitchen is an galley style that works perfectly for me as the only cook in the house. I am beyond impressed that you would even attempt to assemble your new one! If it requires more skill than a screw driver, I'm pretty much out of luck. vbg

We're having 100+ degree days with 7 more consecutive predicted. This morning I took a walk at 6:30am and was a bit nervous because it wasn't clearly light yet. Nervous because my neighborhood group has reported some teen or young adult hecklers/bullies? nearby, both in vehicles and on foot. Luckily, my area was totally quiet but I am not venturing out as far from home as in the beginning.

I know kids are bored witless with being home so much but tv news showing roughing up elders walking in other cities is alarming. My bones are far too fragile, not to mention my addled brain to sustain much of a fall.

Plants purchased on my 1st shopping trip remain drying out in their orig. containers. Too hot, too early to be digging new homes for them so I'm watering with stored rain water twice a day. No humidity and no rain in site for this arid area so all life forms dry and wither quickly! vbg

I bet Precious kitty would love your island box to use as an escape cave to play in...feel free to send it here when finished if you don't have another use for it in mind, ok?

@fiesty76 I wouldn't be too worried about walking in the early hours unless the problems have been at that time of day nearby. Remember teenagers are notorious late risers!

I’ve been buying and planting, many sales on now for perennials! I soak plants in water x 24 hours AND water well the area where I am planting. Water at least daily for a week!

My son in law was working home this morning and come over at 8 to put it together. He left halfway through for a brief online meeting and then was back and finished it before 9: 30. I was surprised to see him. He gets antsy when he knows something has to be done. I finished “playing” with it and went out to get a new heavy duty cutting board and a few doodads. It so cute I don’t want to dirty up my kitchen later. I now have more prep space which was the reason for getting it and I’m not so jammed up with pots, pans, appliances and what not. I love love love it. My daughter in law who is an interior designer along with my son found it online for me. I always send her pics of things I am thinking to buy...love her taste and out of the box thinking. It was so funny to watch them doing their house Reno a few years back and changing each other’s blueprints. Jim wanted to add another story..that didn’t happen but he had his way with the kitchen.

And all I had to do was shop and play in my kitchen. I opened some of the boxes for my SIL and that was it. I don’t want to dirty up my kitchen tonight lol.
