Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Hey, all you walkers, yoga exercisers, chair exercisers, dancers, runners, mountain climbers, whatever’s! Do you need some motivation? Especially now that we’re all stuck inside. Here goes:
Awesome benefits of walking: 2min of walking == live longer
5min of walking== burn 1000 calories a week
10min of walking== protect yourself heart
So get moving! 🤗🤗

I did it! Reached my goal of 5k steps..Not easy, but the sun was out and it's warm. Have to remind myself not to walk outside on Wednesday when the gardeners mow the lawns in my condo complex. Between their blowers and the wind, my sinus just couldn't take it. If the weatherman is correct we should have upper 70 for a couple of days next week. Now, sitting down to watch the Military medical ship Mercy docking in San Pedro, CA. I think a cup of tea and a small piece of dark chocolate is in order. May everyone keep calm and carry on. Stay healthy!!

Becky thanks for the gentle push. So far so good, with my 3 days/week. The locations are changing but almost to the 3-month mark on this new habit. Best to the rest of our "cicers gang".

Fantastic @mayo and thanks for the reminder Becky. I am walking after lunch today. I have been taken up on the phone with the airline but it isn't a very nice day here so the afternoon may be better.

I got in a great walk outside yesterday. Today I lifted weights inside and I'm going to do restorative yoga with my sister via Facebook live!

@mayofeb2020 Isn,t the ship beautiful I watched it on T.V. here in Long Beach. You must have had a front row seat. I dont have a car anymore of id run down and see it . Bless our military for doing this

@lioness. Hahaha, I'm watching it on TV too! OC finally released city by city statistics on covid 19. We have 33 infected in our city of 280 thousand. Yikes!!!
