Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

Yes, any exercise is great. Just keep on moving!
@lioness- You need to evaluate your body and ask if you have any pain anywhere. If you do then stop. Older people should never adhere to "no-pain no-gain". Think about what you are going to do later in the day. If your exercises make you too sore then stop! Nothin should hurt when you exercise- This is different than feeling a bit of muscle soreness at night or the next day. Also, you should not work the same muscles two days in a row. If you need help with this I'll be glad to help.
@merpreb Hi Mary I do listen to my body when muscles hurt I stop One day I slept in went to chair exercises body didn't want to but since I organized it had to go but after I did them my body woke up and was back to normal
The photo is of my Standard Poodle Service Dog, "Beau Geste". Since he requires daily walks and we live on twenty acres out in the country we are able now to get outside and get some fresh air. We have come to love Beau so much we got a black Standard Poodle "Skye" for my husband to train as his Service Dog. (We've trained dogs for thirty years, obedience, conformation and Search and Rescue). When I was told I'd benefit from having a service dog after my diagnosis at Mayo we did a lot of research and decided on a standard poodle puppy after a rescue dog turned into a nightmare experience. Walking/moving/gentle Yoga are all so very helpful for the mind as well as the body. I applaud your inviting us all to join you!
I walked once around the block and I was heading home, but the sun is OUT after a few days of rain, it felt so good! I thought I'll just do a little more but ended walking another lap while my legs are still holding me up right. I'll need a nap later, I think I earned it!
I totally LOVE Beau Geste! I have had standard poodles all my life, my last ones were sisters from Australia, Poochini & Martini. They added so much happiness and love to my life! You cannot find smarter, more obedient, loving animals than standard poodles. And, they do not shed!

@mayofeb2020 One local chain of supermarkets has instituted senior hours -- 6:00 A.M. - 7:30 A.M. Pretty early but not a bad idea. I was in the store early this morning because I tend to wake up early and not be able to get back to sleep. I have my alarm set to 7:00 to take my medications, which I take at least an hour before breakfast. If I wake up at 6:00 I don't get back to sleep because I know my alarm will be going off fairly soon. I have the Apple watch and it vibrates to wake me up, which is great because with it I don't need to disturb my husband.

@Erinmfs Whenever I do an outdoor walk my Apple watch has the right start time and stop time, but for some reason only says I walked far fewer minutes than I did. Yesterday I walked for 21 minutes but it said only 7 minutes of exercise! I would have walked further but it was cold here and my fingers were like ice cubes despite wearing gloves, plus that was all my husband could handle.
