Flares and advice
Does neuropathy usually flare when you get sick? All of the sudden my numbness has come back in my foot. Im fairly new to foot neuropathy. I also have tingling and pain at times. I have a chunk of my foot that just feels dead, weirdest feeling, normal looking, goes away and returns.
Is this enough concern to bother a rheum?

@januaryjane, I think that when you are sick it can make a lot of different autoimmune conditions worse. I would be concerned if a chunk of my foot felt dead and I would want to see a doctor about it. You describe it as feeling dead. Is that versus feeling numb? I have numbness in my feet but I can still feel them, it's just a different type of feeling for me - can't feel hot or cold with mine.
@januaryjane, I have found that when I am not feeling well my neuropathy worsens and then gets better when I am over the cold, flu, etc. I am always happy when it reverts back! Helen
I have flare-ups of foot pain, spasms, feeling of "deadness" in my feet. Feeling like blocks of wood at the end of my legs. Take Gabapentin and use DBD cream and phenytoin cream, which help sometimes. Have had progressing PN in feet for over 10 years.
After having dealt with pain for years I had a new experience this morning. At first I lost my little finger on my left hand. No feeling at all until I found it with my right hand and straightened it out. Now it’s fine - a little tingly, but thats better than no feeling. Has anyone else had this happen?
Yup, shoulder to hand. It comes back fortunately.
Do you know what causes it?
