How do they take out a thyroid?

Good heavens, don't worry about the incision. Mine is in the crease of my neck, horizontally, and I can't even notice it is there. No one has ever mentioned it to me in conversation. At first I thought I would wear silk scarves, but I never did. Mine is not large at all. The big worry is that they may damage your vocal chord in the surgery, and that is the problem I must deal with the rest of my life. No more choir, and food sticks in my throat, as well as pills. I did some exercises, but it did no good. No more speaking in public well. Checking your blood and keeping on the thyroid pills accurately is the main concern. I went to an endocrinologist and that is very important to do. I can't eat walnuts, grapefruit, or milk products for breakfast. I eat them later in the day, however. I had a series of tests one year later, and was found to be cancer free. I understand about the keloids. I watch Dr. Pimple Popper and learn a little. I don't tell my family I watch because it is so gross, but I have a lipoma in my back that itches. I am letting it go for now. I no longer have a double chin. I am happy. Dorisena
