@gingerw

@mamacita Wow! You can use ear plugs with no problems? I only use them under one circumstance and that is when I am using firearms. Earplugs to drown out noise or to calm myself down to sleep, hearing my own breathing, drives me over the edge. There are so many times my husband doesn't understand the extreme sensitivity of my senses of touch, hearing and taste, nor the ability to see the slightest changes in color shades. That last one deals me well in my craft endeavors with fabric and yarn, and was appreciated when I worked in the commercial sewing thread industry. I have long said that with my autoimmune conditions, basically my body is at civil war with itself, but now I am just realizing that civil war goes beyond the physical and also involves the emotional/mental operating systems on a daily basis. Ah, the things we learn here on Mayo Connect with other people in the same trenches as us!

Oh my sweet sister @gingerw
Let me tell you.
The difference is like night and day.

I would do better with superexpensive headphones yet cannor afford them presently.

When I realized how devastating sound is to me especially in the early mornings I had to make a decision.

And wear them I do.

They are grossly uncomfortable and if it were my child I would just go ahead and get the $500 headphones.

After two or three hours usage I am desperate to remove them.

And remove them I do.

What must our ASD children feel when they cannot express to us "It's TOO LOUD OUT THERE!!!"

Anxiety comes from untreated trauma. Among other things.

Lord help us hear the cries of our brothers and sisters who are in pain.
Love and light
