anecdotely very slow tapering seems to be the norm..my rheumatologist suggested that i would be on prednisone for a year!! started on 20mg with rapid taper and rapid recurrence..restarted at 25 mg and have very slowly tapered to 15mg and feeling well but will do very slow taper from this point on...Has anyone tried acupuncture?

Yes. I tried acupuncture and with two hour long sessions a week apart found no benefit at all in fact the reverse after the second session. I had more pain and mobility issues. This was before diagnosis and starting prednisolone.

I’m not sure if PMR is autoimmune (I think it is). A really good acupuncturist I have seen says that acupuncture doesn’t work for autoimmune diseases because it actually improves immunity, thus making an autoimmune disease worse. I have used acupuncture for tendenitis and a problem with a very painful thumb with good results.

Apparently all of the rheumatologist tell their patients the PMR will be gone in one year but I haven't heard one person say that that happened. been on prednisone for almost two years now and every time I decrease the amount the fatigue and pains come back. My recent bone density test was not good and I would like not to take steroids but it does keep the symptoms somewhat subdued.
