Afraid I have cancer

@unbreakable

Just joined the site as I am right there with you. Have been tested a lot and no progress. Eye floaters, light stools, gas, bone pain, especially legs and hips, fatigue, overheat easily, no appetite, swollen lymph nodes under right arm. Symptoms lighten with less smoking, going on day three clean now. My wife passed away last July of cancer, finding myself with the same symptoms she had. We spent 3 weeks at Marquette hospital, 8 weeks at Mayos, then 1 weeks back at Marquette before they found the cancer. They found it Thursday and she was gone Saturday. I really think I have cancer, but my body is working as it should filtering out the cells, keeping them from spreading, but getting a little worse all the time. Eventually my body will lose the battle if these doctors can't find the source of my sickness. Determined to get 30 days no nicotene and go back or go Mayo clinic. With my wife it was in her kidneys, liver, lungs, and brain, but was passed off as wet brain. She needed potassium and magnesium contantly, without it she was delusional and its hard to care for someone who is not thinking straight. Trying to fix this before I lose my mind too. As her health declined, our house fell into disrepair. Dusty upstairs and moldy in basement. Working on cleaning that up now, but its a slow process when you are sick yourself. Starting to wonder if my house is killing me.

@unbreakable, I'm glad you found us. It sounds like you could use some support from fellow members as you grieve and do your best to find answers about your health. I'm so sorry to hear about the difficult journey your wife had in getting a proper diagnosis, and then how little time you had left once she did.

Remember that your situation is not necessarily going to follow the same path as your wife. No two people are alike. The symptoms you describe are common with many different conditions and not necessarily cancer. I don't want you to drive yourself crazy with worry. Let's put the worry into action - and you've already started.

1. Quit Smoking: Bravo, you're on quit day #3. Find support from others to stay quit here:
- Ways to curb your cravings for nicotine https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/ways-to-curb-your-cravings-for-nicotene/
- Stop smoking panic attacks. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/stop-smoking-panic-attacks/

2. Keep track of Symptoms:
Write down your main symptoms and make notes of when they happen, their severity and what you were doing at the time you experienced them. Bring this info to your doctor. You might notice patterns that will help explain what is going on.

3. Find Calm for Health
This blog has step by step articles and Health & Mindfulness https://connect.mayoclinic.org/page/mindfulness-in-health/

What tests have you had?

@unbreakable I also welcome you to Mayo Connect! Like @colleenyoung said, everyone is different. Towards the end of your post, you mentioned about the nature of your house being fairly unkept at this time. Is there someone that can come in and assist you, or do a major clean-up for you, and help you see a brighter future? The time of grieving can vary so much. Having a house that is clean may go a long ways to helping you feel better both physically and emotionally. We care here and I look forward to hearing more about how you are doing.
Ginger

@unbreakable Sounds like you’ve had a very difficult year. I’m so sorry your wife died and now you are sick. I agree with @gingerw about getting some help to clean the house and get rid of the mold. You might be allergic. Here is a link to a site with info on mold allergies https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/mold-allergy/symptoms-causes/syc-20351519.
