Hello.
The Dr has not explained the root cause but I know it’s Hypertension. It started this summer and I ended up in the emergency for 4 hours with 232/110 . A lot of investigations with blood test etc, and last week I got a call saying I had kidney disease and I was referred to a specialist. First appointment will be Jan 7, 2020

@wilfreda Welcome to Mayo Connect. We are a diverse group of people, made up of fellow patients, family members, and caregivers. We offer our experiences and support, but cannot diagnose as we are not medical professionals. Yes, high blood pressure has so many bad things going for it! I am glad you will be seeing a nephrologist in a few weeks. Until then, if there is medication you are on for the BP, take it faithfully. Until you have more information, don't "awfulize" your situation by researching too much and assuming you have the worst case scenario. I've been there, done that! Jot down any questions that come to mind, such as best diet, what stage kidney disease you are at [this is based on your Glomular Filtration Rate], what you as a patient can do. If there are any things you have noticed in yourself that might be related to the kidney disease, write them down and take the list with you. We're here to answer any concerns that you have, as we are able to. Have you been treated for hypertension before?
