The one big change I did was weight loss-45lbs. I actually did this to deal with type 2 diabetes. It made a big difference in dealing with reflux- GERD. There was not all that pressure on my stomach Anymore- less reflux. I had already eliminated a lot of fatty foods that I could not digest after gallbladder surgery.

After getting a peptic ulcer repaired I had to go on a low acid diet for Barrett's esophagus.I did a major lifestyle change, no soda, alcohol, fruit juices, low acid coffee only, no fried foods, no Mexican, Italian, no high fructose corn syrup products, no tomato products, no seasonings except pink Himalayan salt, I switched to unsweetened almond milk which is alkaline, no chocolate or mint. I eat fresh vegetables, baked fish, turkey and chicken. I drink lots of water too. I stop eating at 3pm everyday to avoid acid reflux at night. I don't eat out at all. I might be a little extreme but this is what works for me, no more stomach upset for me! Good luck finding what works for you.
