Baking Soda is extremely high in sodium. While in kidney failure my blood pressure was always high and I was put on a low sodium diet. For me baking soda prior to transplant would have been very dangerous. Everyone is different so I would say it's best to consult with your Nephrologist and discuss the risks and benefits. There is research it helps clear creatinine. You must watch your sodium!

My husband is CKD stage 4 and his nephrologist told him to use 1 tsp/day baking soda, or be prescribed medication. The purpose was to balance the body ph to lessen the burden on the kidneys. So far, labs are stabile.
