Controlling the Anger and Sadness: My Neuropathy is Overtaking Me
One of those days today where feet are just throbbing, can't find shoes to wear, can't be without shoes, loaded up on CBD, and finally not in so much pain. Just have real sleepiness from CBD. Now folks: Is this a way to live??????? How? I am such a healthy lady without this neuropathy. But it has overtaken me. Punch drunk on CBD. So messed up. I hate this. Crying. Don't know if I will ever really learn a coping strategy, deep down. How do we do this every day? This pain warrior is exhausted. Lori Renee

Living with chronic, intractable pain has to be one of the most difficult things we deal with. And finding a treatment tends to be a long, drawn out process - or it could be called a long, drawn out nightmare. And too often, medications have irritating side effects - or unacceptable, unpleasant, even fatal, especially when drug interactions are in the mix. Or they might have no effect at all.
But when we eventually land on something that brings relief - oh what a relief it is! Remember that Alka Seltzer ad?
Do you do a Google search for drug interactions when you start a new one? I do. I suppose some might say it's my OCD. I read every paperwork that comes with any medication. More OCD?
Be careful with CBD. First, only buy it from a reputable source. Then start with a low dose. From there on, there are many others in Connect who know way more than I do. @artscaping Cliff is a good resource.
Take care.

@jimhd, Thanks Jim for the tag. I just try to stay informed in an industry that is challenging and confusing. My journey has been exactly what you said, a long drawn-out process. And the reality is that once you figure out what works for you, all of sudden your SFN takes a nosedive or another turn and you are back at square 1. I hope you grab some joy today. Chris
@jimhd Just thanks for responding today. It's a hard one, but now, the CBD has mellowed a bit, and I feel more normal. I think it becomes normal to always be researching, when you have chronic pain. A constant quest. You know what? I think having pain puts us naturally in a state of having OCD. Think about it. Pain becomes the strongest sensation, and overcomes the senses. We feel it, think it, constantly. That is OCD!!!! Most unpleasant. It's like a double whammy of pain, and OCD. I really do think there is a connection between the two. Part of the helpfulness of CBD, is it helps to stop the OCD, and makes your mind move to other things besides pain. Like a respite. On the other hand, too much of the stuff creates that zombie effect, which is not good either. let's face it. We have a goofy, hard life. But life goes on, and so, we try, and try, and try, and try...…… Lori R
Hello. Do you have a PCP that is state certified to prescribe medical marijuana? If so, do you use a dispensery they recommend and can assist you with dosing? Jim is right...combinations of drugs can have unpleasant side effects. Reaching out on Connect was a good idea being it's such a tough day for you. May it get better soon.
Rachel
Try using just the CBD CREAM.... it relives the pain ... and druggy effcts..
@rwinney I do smoke marijuana for pain, and it is good. I do not have medical marijuana, and I am definitely going to check it out. I have an oncologist that would probably prescribe it. My neuropathy started right after breast cancer surgery. Boob is fine. Feet far from it. Anyway, yes, I am going to try medical marijuana. Thanks much for responding. Very difficult day, and I know how yours can be, too! Take care, Lori R.
@chace61 Yes, I use wonderful CBD salve. It was just one of those days that I was just so sick of living this way. Not coping well, more than anything. Feel better now, though. Thanks! Lori R
@lorirenee1, In the Mayo Connect forum there is no visual or audio input. We just have words to express our sadness, our dismay, or the difference between wondering and wandering in our mind. If it were not so true, you would have certainly qualified for an academy award with that post. I hope you are feeling much better. Let's make tomorrow an up day. Do you watch the barometric pressure? Does it affect your resilence?
Before I forget, I would like to ask if your CBD comments were actual or just adding emphasis to the lament. It seems like there are a number of members researching, exploring and experimenting with CBD. Actually, CBD, as in medical cannabis, has no psychotropic capabilities. You cannot get high on pure cannabidiol (CBD). From your description, you may have encountered something other than CBD. As @jimhd wrote, be careful and do your homework. Tomorrow, may you be free of suffering and enjoy mother nature's gift of Fall color. Chris
Sounds like a good plan. Take care.
