I was diagnosed with Osteonecrosis 2015. Cortisone injections only lasted about 4 weeks. January 2016 I had my first TKR. I Exercised regularly with a PT and at home. Pain got so bad I had MUA July 2016. That did not help and my bend was practically non-existent. I was referred to a different Consultant. August 2018 I had a revision. My bend was slightly better but not 100%. I still had pain on weight bearing but I kept up my regular exercises. My balance was not good and I had a few falls. One 3months after my op and because I was on blood thinners my leg was purple. I had a fall August 2019 and fell on my TKR and landed on my face luckily on grass but I ended up with slight concussion and whiplash and a headache for two weeks. I phoned my GP who said that my knee was obviously suffering from trauma and to wait and see if the pain improved after a couple of months. A year has now passed and with COVID it is difficult to get an appointment with my GP. My pain is getting worse and leg gives way now and again which is frightening. I can’t go out without my husband’s support. I am at the end of my tether. Only appointment I can get from my local surgery is a telephone consultation. Can I request a scan to find if there is any damage done to the implant. I am 78 and can’t go on like this much longer. I need answers soon. Can anyone give me advice.

Hello @auxiliary, Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry to hear you have not been able to get any relief from the pain. I know I don't like the let's wait and see answer from doctors either. If it were me and I was having severe pain after falling and it keeps getting worse, I would request that my doctor setup an X-ray and possibly MRI. Here's an article that discusses the topic.

8 Most Common Knee Injuries from Falling: https://www.healthline.com/health/8-most-common-knee-injuries-from-falling#knee-injuries

If your doctor is not responsive, are you able to seek a second opinion with an orthopedic specialist?

@auxiliary Have you spoken to your orthopedic surgeon about this, rather than your GP? I presume that you are on Medicare so you wouldn't even need a referral to see the surgeon and that doctor is the one who can best deal with this. I'm surprised that your GP didn't just tell you to call the other doctor.

I hope you do see a specialist and get some results that will help you. It's miserable to have constant pan.
