Thanks for responding. I’ve only been on it three weeks. My anxiety is still horrible.. did you have this problem when you first started? I was told it may take 6 weeks before it begins to work. Is this true? I’m hoping it will work..

I honestly cannot remember just how long it took for the Effexor to work.
I do remember having a dull headache for some time and being very tired.
I know that it can take up to a couple months for it to work.
Also, it can take a while to find the right dosage.
Are you taking the regular or extended release Effexor?
That can also have an impact.
Bottom line is that everyone responds differently at different times.

Sorry! I didn’t see this. Please tell your doctor. Mine put me on lexapro and my anxiety got worse! That’s where the Seroquel comes in. I take a small dose of that at night as a mood stabilizer and then Zoloft as a mood lifter. Small doses. With your doctors approval, perhaps lower your Effexor dose? Please let the doc know. You should have to suffer with anxiety. It’s the worst! Perhaps it’s not right for you or perhaps you need to ween more slowly on. I was on a pediatric dose that worked for me! Everyone is different so don’t be shy about calling your doctor about your anxiety.
