Sadly for me it's "When I can afford to". Personally I think these helpful devices are way too expensive for many of the people who need them most.

@bobbyboomer I agree someone else suggested Taurine I don't know how expensive this is but may try it. Anything to quiet the sound.

Feel many of us are in the same place, can not afford better hearing aids. My one drawback is replacing the white part called wax guard, with arthritis in my hands need to use needle nose pliers to hold part to remove old guard n insert new one. Many time fall out of pliers. The loose tiny part. Never can find it. I do go to neumours senior care specialist in hearing, vision n dental need to apply. Cost is low. Just purchasec glasses 130.00 not bad price plus affordable for me. Pick them up next week.
