I have had a DVT and blood clots in my lungs. I have been clear of clotting for 3 years. Instructed that I have to stay on 20mg of Xerallto daily for the rest of my life. I do not like taking medication due to possible side affects. Also, I feel once a person is on the meds for so long the body becomes immuned to the meds and stop working. I was recently diagnosed has a type 2 diabetic so, I am concerned with the xerallto interacting with the diabetes meds.

I am curious does anyone know of natural remedies to help eliminate clotting? Is it true a person stays on a blood thinner at the age of 46 for the rest of their life? Sorry for the questions just looking for reliable resources and I know I can find that with Mayo Clinic

Generally yes, you might have to stay on anti-coagulants the rest of your life. The DVT and blood clots in your lungs, can kill you if they happen again. The good thing is there are lots of anti-coagulants on the market. The original warfarin, requires lots of blood tests and you have to watch what you eat. Eliquis and Xarelto are the newest of these types of drugs. All drugs have side effects, but in your case, the alternative is death. Your Dr should be checking if the med still works. If it isn't working they will change your med to one that will work for you. Whatever happens, DO NOT stop taking the Xarelto unless instructed to do so by your Dr.
