Hi i knoticed you were put on eliquis. I thought i would mention my own experience getting Eliquis. Before my heart transplant theu tried me on that but was nor on it long. But i thought i might suggest 2 ways to get it cheaper. Some insurance companies have mail order scrip like mine which os Blue Cross Blue Shield. I was able to get it much cheaper that way. Also another way i was offered was to contact the manufacturer of the drug and sometime you can get coupons for money off. Even free for a period of time to try it. The funny thing with me is they decided afterwords i needed a Heart anyway so i ended up with left over pills. I often wonder why there isn't a way to recycle unopened medications. Such a waste at times.

Hi there danab,
Thanks for your suggestions. As mentioned, I did try to go thru Eliquis's patient assistance program, but was turned down because I had insurance! Crazy, even with insurance the cost was $350 a month. The mail order plan offered was only slightly less money than going to the pharmacy.
So, what's so bad with Coumadin? I know that one needs to take constant blood draws when on it, my doctor said it was weekly! That seems like overkill. I am hoping my new dr. in November will have some new ideas. I hope I last that long---LOL!
