Gabapentin is now a controlled substance in the State of Virginia. Does anyone have any substitute remedies for leg, ankle and foot pain? Cognac6

I wanted you to know that Lyrica/pregablin is generic now. So if you tolerate It better I thought you might like to know.
I know how it is on a tight budget. I'm allergic to both medications & can not tolerate neither one of them, but my husband swears by it. He takes the generic now. Also you can call the manufacturer's of the medication & they send you forms to pay for it for you if you make less than certain incomes & not just for super low incomes. Hope this info helps.

@msstoppainnagginme Glad to see your response as I use to be on Lyrica and now when I ask Dr for it had to jump through hoops with the medical provider to get it . I finally got a letter saying I could but this is so rediculus for us who need it . What is the FDA or whoever it is doing this to legit people When drugs came into our country I said this was going to be the ruination of our medical community and it is as people know how to go from Dr to Dr for pain perscriptions and there seems to be know accountability there . Sad

My husband has tried Good rx which has been advertised on tv. At some pharmacies some medications are free .. or at least less than insurance copay... and others the same medications are a higher price. I think Good rx has an app. Always good to shop around. If not a good deal that way talk to the company.

One reason medications are cheaper is the particular manufacturer they use and they often change manufacturers to who’s ever the cheapest. Some people with Epilepsy don’t have the option of switching.
My pharmacy switched manufacturers on my seizure meds and I had a seizure. I still believe Brand name drugs work better. That’s probably not true in all situations but it is for some medical conditions and some medications. Some manufacturers in China & India put in less than 50% of the active ingredient in addition to using inactive ingredients that cause bioavailability issues. All generics are not created equal.

I live in Kentucky where it also became a controlled substance and have had no problem getting it (been taking it for 15 years). I don’t know what kind of doctor you see but a university pain management clinic or respected pain management doctor should give it to you without a problem. Nothing changed about my ability to get it when it transferred to a controlled substance. If your doctor won’t give it to you they are practicing poor medicine and uninformed. Sad. I’m sorry you have such a hassle.
