Upper Endoscopy Results - Bowel Obstruction

Posted by rissey13 @rissey13, Jun 5, 2019

Upper endoscopy (9am)
Fasting since 10:30pm the night before.
Esophagus:
Food
Esophogitis
Hiatal hernia
Stomach:
Food (residue)/ bezoar
Duodenum:
Erythematous (hypersonic)
They took biopsies.
Should I be worried? I don’t know if I should call my doctor now or just wait for biopsies to come in. It has been a week now and I have been really sick.
I've been nauseous all the time. I have a burning feeling from my stomach to my throat. I constantly feel over full and bloated. I try to make myself eat but I can't eat without getting sick. I'm trying to sip on drinks without getting sick. My stomach feels like it is going to explode and I can't even fit it into my clothes.
I have had constipation for a year or two but I just started to have diarrhea attacks. I have a severe pinching cramp in my lower right side. My pcp thought it was my appendix when it got really bad. I have been passing large amounts of mucus also. I am guessing from constipation and hemorrhoids.
Please give me some advice. Any experience/knowledge would be so helpful.
Thank you.

Hi @rissey13,

If it has been a week, I would call and ask for the biopsy results to be sent to you. I'm not at all sure what it all means.
Will you provide an update when you have more information?

Specialist isn't in office until tomorrow. They told me to go to urgent care. Partial bowel obstruction confirmed with plain x-ray. They gave me miralax.

@etreyz07 I hope you are feeling better today. It takes a while for Miralax to work. How much Miralax did they suggest?

Try going on a low acid diet. No tomato products, soda, booze, fruit drinks, Mexican food, Italian food, no fried foods. Low acid coffee, limit caffeine and chocolate and mint.
Ask your GI Dr. If you should take a dose of miralax daily. My Wife does and it helps her stay regular. Good luck with recovery.

the esophigitis will cause pain when swallowing and a constant burning feeling all the time and irritated by acid reflux also the hiatial hernia will cause the symptoms your having. you need to go on an alkaline diet and stay away form acidic foods to heal the belly and throat. i have all that but much worse than yours sounds. i have errosive gastritis and now have lost the top 2 muscles in my esphagitis so i only have the bottom muscle to try and swallow food sp to say the least i can hardly swallow anymore. all of this was caused by a bad gall bladder and severe acid reflux.

thats exactly what you need and i doubt you had a bowel obstruction you just needed to have a BM i get that with xrays all the time. ducolax works the best take 2 and go to bed and will have a nice BM kin the morning. most biopsies can take up to a month to come back.

Hi @rissey13,

I’m tagging @chines118 @claytamos @bentley33 @lelia @beanglow @nanashelly @badone @dandl48, @brie87144 @ryman @66andcounting @nanny23 @kozlo52 @jlfisher56 who all have discussed very similar issues.

Hi @rissey13,

How are you doing? Did you have to undergo surgery for the bowel obstruction?
