Hiatal Hernia “bulge"

Any direction would be appreciated. I had an endoscopy and several other digestive tests, hida scan, gastric empty study ultrasound. They found a 2cm hiatal hernia and slow empty on the empty study ( I forget the medical term used.
There is a spot that bulges out just under the sternum, when I bend over or push on something hard. The diagnosis of costochondritis was made......was told to not bend over and use lidocaine.

I just feel like we are missing something. I've attached a photo and it may be hard to see.

The buldge goes back in after about a minute when it happens. Its definitely not comfortable. I just cant see this being the end result...have to live with this the rest of my life, so if anyone has any experience with this or any direction to go, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Yes, I have had a hiatal hernia, almost a year ago, had a nissen fundo done, everything was fine for the first three weeks of recovery, then it went south, and I ended up with something almost exactly like you described above, same area, from my diagrams and such, reducable, but a palpable lump or bump, and still trying to figure it out, can't see it on CT's or ultrasound, might need a MRI to see it, but it's still there, and yes, your signs/symptoms, when it comes on, very uncomfortable, I believe that it pinches the vagus nerve, anxiety and other problems...such and such, but just did a google search and found your description, glad to hear I'm not alone...what is it, I don't know, but my best guess is that the hiatal hernia is back, sliding or rolling or possibly a pouch or diverticula on the large bowel...still unknown, probably another surgeon go in and figure it out and try to fix it...best of luck to you

thank you, now I know that I am not alone...or psychotic? LOL ;o)

I was diagnosed with a 7cm hiatal hernia behind my heart. I have had it for a long time, never really gave me any trouble. I hope they can figure this out for you
