Hello @makmes, welcome to Connect. Is what you are experiencing phantom pain, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/phantom-pain/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20376278?

If you don't mind me asking and if you are comfortable sharing, what have you tried in the past to address your pain? Does it come and go or is it constant?

Hi Justin, thank you for asking to elaborate my past pain experience. I never tried anything except taking pain relieve medicines at least three times everyday, sometimes even more medicines depending on the severity of the pain. I am comfortable sharing to people who has similar issues and if they were successful dealing with it. Thanks Justin

I am a double amputee due to a car accident lost my legs after 98 surgeries and struggle with pain. Don't think I have had a good night of sleep in years. I would welcome any advice on pain issues. I was put on Lyrica and found out you couldn't just stop taking it. I am to the point even if I am on meds for the rest of my life it would be better than in all this pain. I have a 4 year old daughter I adopted over 3 years ago and I have got to find ways to feel better. Any advice ???

Lyrica helped me a lot with phantom pains if side affects are to bad gabapentin helps also and sometimes getting into a hot tub will help. I also struggle with this myself and looking for help. The state I live in is not the greatest on helping chronic pain I have had bad experiences with doctors

Hi, I suffer from phantom pain also. I have been taking quite a lot of pain meds for 14 years after a bout of negotiating fasciitis.. I couldn't live without them so take them even tho I think they make me tired and stupid. I feel for my fellow travelers. It seems I am getting better help from my pain specialust. Mine is very caring and supportive. That really helps. My pain , when controlled by the pain meds is dull and achy. If it gets out of control it is Sharp e!ectric like bolts shooting through my arm. The kind you have to jump up and down or pound on something, or do as jig til it quiets down. Not fun. I would really like to get off the pain meds but I don't want to implant a foreign thing into my body especially when there's no guarantee it will be helpful. I feel so badly for the young soldiers coming home wounded and crippled. At least I was older when this happened to me.

I use to think about going to Brazil to see John of God and pray for a miracle but I guess he's been found to be a quack.
