Violent episodes of nausea in the evening

Hi there everyone I have recently been getting violent episode of nausea around the same time, about 9 o’clock in the evening, for the past 4 days straight. I have never actually been sick during these episodes but it’s the kind of feeling that if you move or talk you will throw up. I am a usually healthy 18 yo eat old boy otherwise. After an episode I am extremely exhausted. I have been getting random pain in my right side upper abdomen and central abdomen throughout the day for a while but nothing serious.
Any thoughts of what this could be?

As I read your post, I was wondering if you have noticed if these periods of nausea follow a particular meal or perhaps a particular activity?

I would encourage you as did Ethan, @ethanmcconkey, to make an appointment with a doctor to discuss these symptoms. It could be something that could be quite simple to solve.

Will you post again and provide an update as to how you are doing?

@ben_c3 @ethanmcconkey Welcome to Connect, Ben. I'm sorry but I do not have experience with this type of thing. If it wasn't UPPER right side I might think it was from your appendix, but upper right side I think is more apt to be liver. I did have appendicitis when I was a child and I remember terrible nausea. I also know a woman who had appendix problems and went undiagnosed for a while because her appendix was not in the usual place.

A visit to your doctor is definitely called for. Hopefully you have a good PCP who is a good diagnostician. I was told by a couple of doctor friends, when I first had liver problems but they were undiagnosed, that doctors of internal medicine tend to be better at diagnosing than family practice doctors so if your doctor is a family practice doctor and comes up with nothing you might want to try a good internist, or go to a major medical center. If I were you I would definitely want some answers.

I will be very interested in hearing what your doctor comes up with so I hope you will post then.

Hello @ben_c3 All of these suggestions are good. I would add, though,that you should see your doctor as soon as you can. My autoimmune disease started out as unexplained vomiting that slowly got worse. I would hate for that to happen to you! See your primary care doctor and ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist, for starters. Keep good notes of what happens and when and what maybe precipitates it. Think up all the questions you want to ask, and go prepared. Best of luck from someone who has been there. Becky

I'm hoping someone can give me insight into my problem. It only happens once or twice a year but it is severe. It only happens in the middle of the night. I wake up with severe abdominal pain, sweating, nausea and dizziness. It usually lasts 45-60 minutes so it is not a hot flash. Whatever it is, it is severe with no predictors.
