IBS challenges
Hi .... I don't think there's a group for this, so I thought I'd try you all. I have been prone to IBS with constipation since my divorce 12 years ago - we were married for 40 years and I felt as though I'd been thrown away. My gastro-intestinal doctor suggested Metamucil, which seemed to work. Between then and now I've had 3 moves, one about 4 hours from where I'd lived for 30 years, a TKR and also a revision, am on several psychotropic medications for cyclothymia, and just feel awful. Well, I'm 73 and have had my teeth removed in order to get dentures .... there's been quite a harang with this and it's been over a year since I've been eating soft and pureed foods .... cream of wheat, soups (pureed), pureed spaghetti, if I do eat a piece of fruit it has to be pureed, but I try not to. It's been a long haul. Well, now I'm packing to move to a low-income apartment closer to my girls, and the IBS has become the diahrrhea form ..... OMG, it's awful. I'm afraid to go out. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm new down here and only have an Internist, but with moving that will have to change. I need the name of a good gastro-enterologist at the hospital I will be using. In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm forced to use pads right now "just in case" ..... I know this is anxiety and tension, but it's got to stop.
Thanks much,
abby

This particular paraprobiotic is not available on Amazon.in. Does you have any suggestions on the ones that are available... Thanks-Junita
I suffered from IBS of varying degrees (beyond horrible to the point of not being able to leave home to mildly annoying) for 25 years. Dr.s prescribed meds, sent me to dietitians, prescribed more meds, did acupuncture, more doctors, more meds. FINALLY through an odd set of circumstances I found a dietitian in my area that does MRT testing followed by the LEAP nutrition protocol. It was expensive to do (approximately $1150) but worth every penny. I was tested for approximately 160 things from food stuffs to some chemicals and metals to determine my reactivity to different things. I worked with my dietitian to figure out how to proceed. She helped me interpret the testing and see how to make this information work in my life. That was last August. Since then my GI tract has calmed down. I have had very, very few episodes of IBS, my anxiety is lessened to almost nothing, my arthritis has cleared up and my brain fog has lifted, no GERD, no diverticulitis. I also lost weight, which I needed to do. I have more to go on the weight, but I will get there. At first the program was very hard, but I stuck with it and it has absolutely changed my life.
Juanita, I saw it on the Amazon website! I’ll check to see if it’s been removed! Moo1
Juanita, it is definitely on Amazon under Kijimea IBS. Also, can be ordered directly from the manufacturer on e-bay, but very
high shipping charges if purchased that way. Made in Germany and Italy! Went through a Clinical Trial and did well with those
IBS sufferers who were part of the medical trial! See recent article in current “The Lancet“medical journal! Also see Kijimea
website, in German and English! Moo1
@junita, while we greatly appreciate the suggestion from @moo1, it is best to speak with your GI physician before starting anything new with current medicine, even if it is over the counter.
Congratulations dear @cindychesler ... Glad to know you've overcome the tough period. Let me see when I'll get the comfort of leading a normal lifestyle. By the way, I've visited end no. of dieticians however no diet plan could actually help me out. However, now I'm trying to follow the FODMAP diet plan. let's see what happens. Thanks..
Hey @moo1 , thanks for the information. Will look up the site again since I've checked in Amazon.in which is local in India. Did not find it there. However, since I'm on probiotics from last five years guess a change would not matter. will surely check again.
@amandaburnett, thanks for your suggestion. Surely will check with the doc. before I go ahead.
Amanda, I wholehearted agree. Check “all treatments” with your GI specialist, but mention the current article in “The Lancet” a
respected Medical Journal, authored by Dr. Peter Layer, Gastroenterologist. My response to Juanita and others is that the
product is still on the Amazon website when she stated it wasn’t there!
Always check with your Doctor before taking any med,
OTC, Herbal, or alternative!

The key to the whole thing is the MRT testing for food sensitivities. Good luck on your journey. 😀
