Hearing Fair

If you are near Kentucky: At 6:30 on Monday, April 22, the Hearing Loss Association of America KY Home Chapter will sponsor a “Hearing Fair” at the Nelson County Public Library, 201 Cathedral Manor, Bardstown, 40004. This is a walk-in affair that gives the participant an opportunity to speak one on one with hearing professionals. The meeting is free and open to the public. HLAA is a Self-Help Organization dedicated to education, advocacy and support for people who do not hear well, and those around them. We will have more than 5 audiology companies, MedEl, AB, Tinnitus professional, KCDHH, Voc. Rehab, 2 captioned phone companies, hearing dog and much more. info@hearinglosskentucky.org or 502-233-5774

@edschickel This is a great idea. I think it something we should look at. We have 7 chapters in the surrounding counties of Philadelphia. This could be a great coordinated fair between the seven. Thanks Ed.

This is our fourth fair. We have had 65 to 100 participants in a small rural area. Our interest is growing. The program lasts about 2 hours. We have University of Louisville audiology students doing screening. Our Library has a large room that will accommodate about 20 small table booths. Our long term goal is to take it outside under a tent, for an all day program, and have speakers in the library meeting rooms. We will post pictures later on our website. It is basically a no cost (we do give the students a small stipend for a meal), minimum labor program and the major work is in PR and gathering professionals.

@edschickel Ed that's a great turnout. Your response has given me some great ideas for our chapter. We are near West Chester Univ. which has a Hearing and Communication Disorder School the would be happy to help. And I have a lot of senior living locations near here. Thanks for the ideas. Maybe I'll see you at a Convention one of these days.

@edschickel Ed, I actually found your website this winter as I was looking at various Chapters sites to get ideas. Yours is outstanding. I am on your monthly email newsletter. Nice job.
