@lorirenee1, Hi Lori...I had a normal EMG so they did the skin biopsy for small fiber which will take a week or so to get results. If it’s positive I go back in and they will do more blood work to try and determine the cause. I don’t know anything definitive as yet except for Erythromelagia but that doesn’t bother me as bad as the small fiber if that’s what it is. Neurologist said he didn’t see anything in the lumbar spine. He doesn’t know what is causing the left leg weakness or fasciculations in left foot especially in big toe. I don’t know that much yet but I feel like I’m wasting away from inactivity so I am eating some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream right now! He is sending me to a Dermatologist for Erythromelagia. And so now the waiting game once again but at least it’s a start. How are you??? Any relief yet from epidural? If not, have some Ben and Jerry’s with me!!!!!

Hi Laura, It is good news that your EMG was normal. That rules out the large fibers. How does your doc know there is nothing wrong with your Lumbar Spine? Did you have an MRI of your back? I did not realize that you definitely have Erythromelagia. When did you get a definitive diagnosis? I do not remember you mentioning having very red, hot, feet. I actually know very little about Erythromelagia. My description could be inaccurate! Please let me know the results of the small fiber biopsies when you get them. Maybe that will tell you more. Man, you did a lot today. I hope the tests did not hurt too much. I had both of those tests, and both were fine with me. But I am a bit of a warrior, and I don't allow myself to get worked up during tests. I think happy thoughts, do some relaxation breathing, etc. I think I would eat the entire pint of Ben and Jerrys when I got home, though. First I'd eat a half slab of real Texas style BBQ ribs, and then wash those down with Ben and Jerrys. Ice cream is my number one vice, and I really pretty much stay away from it, as I get completely out of control eating the stuff. Anyway, epidural has done nothing so far. Not one little thing. My pain is low-moderate today. Go figure. I give up. Never know what these feet will do. Anyway, time to go to sleep. Thanks so much for writing. Keep me posted, and vice versa. Meanwhile, enjoy when you can. Me too. I wanted to shoot myself yesterday. Today, not so much. The Saga of Da Feet! Stay tuned.... Take care, and we will talk. Lori
