How insensitive...and abusive of that doctor in emergency telling you that you belonged in the psych ward! I think you should report him. There is an ombudsman in every hospital that looks into issues of this kind.
I have intolerances and finally a naturopath sent my blood to be analyzed to determine which ones they are. I recommend that you do the same. After I had the results in hand which were surprising, I spent 2 hours in the grocery store reading labels. Dairy is my biggest issue which I already knew from reactions. I didn't realize that a lot of bread contains dairy products. The only pastry with no dairy is apple turnovers..which I definitely don't need! Thank God, gluten is NOT an issue and I thought it was because after eating bread I became short of breath (asthmatic). It was dairy in the bread.
You have to be a sleuth but having test results definitely helps. Next I have to do a stool test which again is sent away to a special lab.

Yes, my son who was a paramedic on our local squad at the time, was known to the hospital folks, so he reported the abusive doctor to the emergency room supervising doctor who found out the man was volunteering overtime in the emergency room and shouldn't have been there at that time. Evidently the doctor had a compulsive problems and he was written up and disciplined. I remember I went to my family doctor who prescribed a liquid diet for a while and I avoided eating the many raw veggies from the garden. I had the surgery soon after that and I didn't go near the emergency room. My son has dairy issues, so I am familiar with that problem. My mother couldn't eat cheese in her old age, which she loved, and claimed it was because in her day children didn't drink much milk because the families got rid of the cow out back after the babies in the family quit drinking from a bottle. Then you had to purchase milk and keep it cold. That idea involves sensitivity issues that develop sometimes from avoiding certain foods. So it is complex to figure out. Do you or don't you try to eat and digest certain foods? I was diagnosed allergic to peanuts from skin tests but I never gave them up and enjoy them to this day.
