I’m now 7 months out bilateral knee replacement. I had that tight band feeling on my left leg which finally around 6 1/2 months has lessened to point it’s only really annoying after walking 3 miles, the next day it will be stiff and more present/somewhat painful again. It’s always present but very mild otherwise and most notable when I need to really bend the knee to get in and out of cars. But it is better then the first several months when every bend even walking or turning in bed, it would pull and feel like my knee cap was being pulled laterally to the left. What may have helped was i massaged my IT band with a vibration massager with a ball like tip, which was painful but that and exercises daily for 6 months. It also may have been time itself. I was going to have massage therapy with therapist but after initial visit, COVID came and all visits got canceled. Like I said still have issues but I can now wake up some days and not think about it. That’s a big win for me. I was told due to having both knees replaced at once recovery would be longer. And may still see improvement up to 1 year out. Best of luck to you. I looked up IT band massage on You tube.

I've had the tight ban pain for five years after full tkr. I've had shots, nerve frozen and nothing. I dont have safe feeling. Ive stumbled 11 times due to not lifting my foot high enough. The more I walk the worse it feels. Now I'm going in to have the other knee done. I just pray it's better than the first. Its surprising how many people have this, but surgeons dont want to admitt it.
