Hello @daniel2709, welcome to Connect. I am inviting @cathyh and @lhenry to this discussion as they previously talked about having trigger finger in relation to carpal tunnel and may be able to share their experience with that. I would also like to invite @hoosier2, @flor, @bernese53, who have all talked about having carpal tunnel release surgery and may be able to offer some of their experiences with recovery.
@daniel2709, you mentioned you have concerns about trigger finger, what issues are you having in your recovery?
Trigger finger problems in both hands after CTS. Have had shots to help but keep recurrlng.. Is this to be expected?
@daniel2709 I had CTS done many years (+10 or so) years ago. I have trigger finger in that hand. I was just reading articles published in medical journals about this. They state that anywhere between 5-35% of the time this occurs and it should be discussed preoperatively that this could be a side effect.
I too was getting injections in this finger to help with ease of movement. I think it’s really strange that as I am getting older my trigger finger is less of a problem.
Bonnie, thanks for your reply. I had both hands done last spring and have trigger finger in both. I agree that it should have been mentioned pre-op! Injections do seem to help but take time.
What is trigger finger?
Hello @chme, here is an overview of what trigger finger is, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/trigger-finger/symptoms-causes/syc-20365100.
Thanks. Why might it be a problem after carpel tunnel surgery.
