I'm new here and use a cochlear implant and a hearing aid. To be eligible for a cochlear implant your hearing loss must be severe to profound. I'll be back when I can figure out how this forum works!
I have a cochlear implant, which helps me tremendously. But the device that helps in exercise class is a clip on mini-mic that works with my hearing aid. The teacher clips it to her shirt and I change the setting on my phone so it acts as a receiver. The teacher's voice goes right into my ear. After 15 years of semi-managing in exercise (pilates) class by following what others are doing I can finally hear the teacher. What a difference!
Yesterday I had a 2 1/2 hour appointment at the Froedert Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Program in Milwaukee. That was the best time I have ever spent in regards to my tinnitus and hearing loss! I have severe hearing loss(60db) along with what is called reactive tinnitus. This means that noise exposure actually makes my tinnitus worse. The audiologist(Annie Smith) was just a great person to talk and listen to. My approach going forward will be to use sound therapy to help retrain my brain in regards to my condition. She showed me several free apps which are downloadable and very soothing and comforting. I do not have problems sleeping but these apps would be beneficial to anyone who has trouble getting to sleep. Also I found out that my 3 year old Phonaks(Audeo B-70's) need more amplification so I will be getting that done also. I would highly recommend Froedert for these type of issues! Have a great day!

Hello. My name is Rose and I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 32 years. I’m a young 75 now. Ha! For the last 10 years I’ve been purchasing my hearing aids from Costco. I love their great customer service. For the past6 months, I’ve noticed that my right ear goes “deaf”, which is so annoying. If I open and close the battery door, my hearing comes back but then dies again. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? I’ve had that h/a replaced to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
Thanks.
@salledell , I lost my hearing to Meniere's and have bilateral cochlear implants. They have given me back my life. Ask me any questions.
