I tried..no luck
Boy, can I relate. I do the same thing. Am struggling now to walk round the back yard-I am so tired--it has been ten days since lung surgery and I am exhausted and coughing. A PT therapist will be here Monday. If you know any way to increase motivation, please let men now.
@alamogal635 ,- I know just what you mean. you just had major chest surgery. They removed part of your lung, so you have less oxygen circulating throughout your body. You will be tired for a while. There's nothing unusual. Did you have a lobescopy or wedge?
Thank you. I read about his stuff, but going through it is another thing. I feel like I"m taking up other people's more important issues with my small worries. Anyway, I am glad the cancer is out. Now we move to every three months for CT scans. DOn't hav one set up yet, but will deal with that when it comes. I had a lobectomy. My gosh when I mentioned it to the nurse after surgery I called it a lobotomy! I think bit by bit I"m getting a bit better each day. Thank you fro the above. It really helped.
Hi @georger I just started the Livestrong program at the local YMCA. It’s been great so far. I had 7 breast surgeries for breast cancer due to several complications. My upper body is extremely weak as I haven’t been able to use my arms for 2 years until now. I wonder how damaged my chest muscles are and if I’ll ever regain strength. I know that scar tissue stops me from reaching over my head but I think it will help the scar tissue to break up if I push myself to continue. Before breast cancer I worked out with a kettlebell and was in pretty good shape. The Livestong program is good because it’s introducing me to many types of exercise and it’s helpful to be with others who have limitations. I’m hoping that I’ll continue to workout once the program is completed! I am positive for the BRCA gene and will need more surgery but I’m trying to postpone it until the Fall. I hope to be stronger by then.
I just finished LiveStrong and now have an opportunity to work with the cardio-oncology exercise program at Mayo Clinic. My last chemo for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was November, so I am finally feeling more energy from a very difficult recovery time. I'm anxious to see what they can do for me but need to stir up some motivation to participate.
@mnpen- Welcome to Connect. Good for you. I did that program years ago, it's great isn't it. I can really empathize with you about being motivated to exercise. When I feel like this I think back to when I had cancer, when I was going through chemo and when I felt awful. That motivates me because I use to say, if I get through this..... And I got through it. I have to live up to the promise I made, or I would feel worse. Go for it, you can do it.
Boy anything I could help you with....in terms of testing, motivation, etc....anything I can do....Non hodgkins for me too
Haven’t heard from anyone in awhile but if I can help anyone with exercise guidelines during or after treatment....contact me as soon as you can😊
Just finished the live strong program and I am wearing my yellow wrist band . Thank God for that program . For those who don’t know the Ymca has this program for free and it’s 12 weeks , 2 times week
