@jadillow Lupus is not hereditary. There are several different types, and within those forms, several levels of intensity. It is an autoimmune disease. Before you rustle up an anxiety attack about that, promise yourself to 1., support your sister, and 2., listen when she tells you what kind of lupus and how involved it is. I say this because I was diagnosed in 1988, no one else in my family has it, and look! I am still going strong 30+ years later.
