At a Loss – Severe Abdominal Pain and No Answers
It has been a very rough month. I started having severe pain in my upper abdomen a week before Christmas. 2 days before Christmas I had my appendix removed and then 3 weeks later my gallbladder removed (they believed this to be the cause of all of my pain) ever since I have been having severe stomach pains that ate worse then the pains I started with. I have lost almost 22 pounds in a month due to the inability to eat and I feel as though I am wasting away. I am feeling so hopeless and so depressed and I just don't know what to do anymore because doctor's seem to be at a loss while my pain just keeps growing. I have never felt this down before and I don't know what to do about it

@hgarm When you see the new Dr ask him if they didn't take out the gallbladder ducts when they removed your gallbladder?Another thing are you seeing a Gastrointestinal Dr? this maybe a good Dr to see .I'm so sorry your still in pain Blessings to you

Blood tests don't tell everything about the pancreas. You need better medical care. Where do you live? Is it rural or in a city? Are you going to an ER related to a University? Are you on medicaid?
I'm having a hard time with you losing 22 pounds, being in the level of pain where you scream when you eat, and the medical people telling you they can't find a problem. Something tells me that you need immediate intensive care. Do you have a friend or family member who can go to an Urgent Care or ER with you and support you to get the care you need? BTW, if Urgent Care can't help you they can often refer you immediately to the ER where they will pay attention to your problems. You are going to have to fight to get the care you need.

3 ReactionsI double agree, I would be concerned about that kind of weight loss as well, @hgarm. There are tests like CT scans and MRIs which can show what is going on with the pancreas.

3 Reactions@hgram There are so many Dr,s you can see but as Gail sade go to urgent care ASAP then you have Internal Dr,s Gastro Dr , Endocrinologist maybe it's hormones? But you need immediate attention

2 ReactionsIn order to see a GI my insurance requires a referal so I have to wait until I see a GP to get a referal. So it's just a waiting game at this point

5 ReactionsI live in a rural area so it's about a half hour to the nearest ER which is connected to a hospital. I have been to the ER 4 times in the past month 2 of those times they took out an organ and the other two times they just sent me home saying there was nothing emergent about me.
I don't know what else I can do because non of the doctors seem to care and my medical bills ate just growing because my insurance charges 300 per ER visit. Plus the hospitalizations.
I am only 28 so I don't think I qualify for Medicare or Medicaid

3 ReactionsThey did CT scans each time I went to the ER and said everything was normal. Even though I told them something is wrong they just sent me home and said it wasn't emergent

3 ReactionsThat's what I said to the doctor but he didn't seem to care just told me to use a heating pad when I have the pain but it has become sort of a constant pain now that just sits there and gets worse with eating or drinking
