No I live here in the USA. My insurance wouldn't cover the cost for Dificid until I had tried a less expensive drug..... either Flagyl or Vanco. I did the Vanco pulse and taper for 5 or 6 weeks and a couple weeks after finishing it, the Cdiff returned for a 4th time. I was a wreck. I kept wondering what I was doing wrong and why couldn't I get rid of it. I cleaned our home from top to bottom and even tossed out a pillow. I had wipes and bleach in every bathroom. It was 8 months that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

After three months of alternating between one antibiotic and then another, my husband put his foot down and refused to take any more. The GI doctor finally prescribed Questran, an anti-cholesterol powder. My husband started with four scoops per day and gradually weaned down to none. After four months of agony, his gut was stabilized.
