What happens after C.Difficile?

I've shared this before on this site but I went through 4 bouts of Cdiff in 2018 after taking Clindamycin. I took Flagyl after the first bout. Then I took Vancomycin for the 2nd and 3rd bouts. I even did the pulse and taper with Vanco for the 3rd bout. Nothing worked for me until I took Dificid (fidaxamycin) for the 4th and final bout. That's the RX that cured my Cdiff. I now take Florastor or any type of S. Boulardii brand daily and have been taking it since 2018 when my gastroenterologist recommended it. I had a UTI last month and was a nervous wreck being on an antibiotic (Macrobid) for 5 days and them Flagyl for a week. I was scared to death that Cdiff would return. That was one month ago and so far, I'm fine. I knock on wood whenever saying that. I wish more doctors would prescribe Dificid after a second Cdiff occurrence instead of putting patients through so much pain and suffering. I know it's expensive but it works. I have another friend who was given it after her 2nd bout of Cdiff. I'm thankful every day that she told me about it working for her.

Thank you for sharing your story and glad you are out of the woods from this vicious cycle. If you don’t mind me asking why did you take flagyl after microbid was it to make sure c Diff doesn’t come back? Or to treat your UTI? And how many Boulardii pills do you take daily?
