As far as I know, Lotronex (alosetron) and Viberzi (eluxadoline) are the main ones for IBS-D. Yes, they can have side effects but at this point, I am about ready to risk them. Either that or back to daily doses of Imodium!

I just got a chance to look up these 2 drugs in Daily Med, which lists all the ingredients. Both have sugars in them, whether lactose, corn starch, mannitol, etc. , so it wouldn't be a good idea to take these manufactured versions if you have fructose malabsorption. You could get them compounded at a compounding pharmacy. Just specify sugar free, lactose free, etc. For a filler I have found microcrystalline cellulose to be pretty good, and definitely better than cellulose. Naturally insurance plans won't cover compounded drugs; at least, I don't know of any that do. Again, good luck!
