Prayers for wisdom are going your way, @mamacita! I'm not very familiar with optic nerve problems, so you will have to help us all learn from your experience. Getting a second opinion from a Mayo trained doctor is a fantastic idea.
How are your husband and daughter feeling?
@mamacita Gentle as you go. I recall the opthalmologist telling me that diabetics often have more pronounced eye changes, and this may be your situation, also? We will all be here for you, cheering you on.

@mamcita, Good evening. I am not @teresa but I have been living with optic nerve issues for about 10 years. At one point, I had a laser treatment on both eyes when the optic nerve didn't pass a glaucoma test. Now I have been getting pictures of the optic nerve to look out for changes that are caused by neuropathy as well. Wishing you well tomorrow. Chris
@mamacita- I wish you lots of hugs and luck for your appointment. I have no history with this but Mayo is the place for a second opinion for sure.
@mamacita Good luck with your optic nerve problem . You are wise to have your second opinion done I did with my macular degeneration, now I love my opthamologist and with her suggestions mine has been staying o.k. for 2 years now.
@mamacita I know nothing about this but I hope that things go well with the specialist tomorrow. Is this an ophthalmologist? I think it's very smart to get a second opinion too. I often do that for anything serious, but I have gotten to the point where I go to Mass General first so I tend to trust them so then I do not generally get another opinion. I feel fortunate to have a top-notch medical facility so close to me.
Let us know what you hear tomorrow, hopefully nothing too concerning.
