Hi Linda,
I never heard of it before either until my brother told me about it. He’s an encyclopedia of weather facts. 231 mph. The official record now is 253 mph in Australia during the typhoon Olivia. The Mt Washington record still holds as the strongest wind on earth that was witnessed by man and the strongest wind ever in the northern hemisphere.

Since you mentioned Chicago your probably chomping at the bit to know the extreme weather facts there. Well, wonder no more, here you are,
