Good Morning!
That is TERRIFIC news about your brother!!! I hope he continues to improve!I
I often live vicariously through others, too. Travel is my thing. I wish I could travel, but when you can't do much in the way of walking, it is crazy to spend lots of money and not be able to see the sights. In addition, the places I want to go to (Greece and Italy), the streets and roads are hilly and made with cobblestone. Even a scooter would be difficult on those kinds of streets.
So, for now, I look at travel sites and dream. I do have to say, we are planning a trip to Hawaii. We have been many times (we have a timeshare that we use on Maui) so site seeing is not an issues. Maui is my 'happy place' and I would be very sad if we couldn't go. What might eventually stop us is the LONG flight.
Anyway, again, I am trilled for your brother!
Have a wonderful day!
Ronnie

Thanks, @grandmar You have not been to Italy? We have been there two times and loved it. My husband's father came from Sicily so we went to Sicily both times and the people there were wonderful and welcoming. I too would love to go to Greece.

We went to Hawaii in October of 2017, Maui and Kauai, and it really is paradise. We hope to get back there next year. I am now more conscious of being close to a transplant center though because in December of 2017 I ended up in the hospital due to Legionnaire's Disease. Transplant centers are more knowledgable about what post-transplant patients need. So, if we go to Hawaii again I am thinking it might be Oahu, well outside of Honolulu. I would not want to have to get air-lifted to somewhere other than where we were.
Attached is a picture of the view from our lanai. If I could just sit out there every morning with my coffee my BP would never be high.
I agree about the long flight, we live in the northeast so it's really long. We originally thought we would stay a night or two someplace on the way but there really was nowhere convenient that we wanted to stop at so we just put an extra day at the front of our time in Hawaii and used that as an R&R day.
