@capausz I think you are referring to me. I had the best incentive. I was waiting for a liver transplant and told that other geographical areas sometimes could transplant at a lower MELD -- the score they use to determine who is next in line to receive a donor liver. When I did a little investigating I discovered that some hospitals, not mine, would not transplant if your BMI was over 30, which mine was. Plus I knew of course that the recovery from such a major surgery would be better at a lower weight. My recovery was great, and thankfully I was able to stay at Mass General Hospital which is about 55 miles away from me and of course generally rated as one of the top three hospitals in the country.
