@gingerw None of the doctors I saw before coming to Mayo had personalities that would have allowed me to make a connection with them. My surgeon was right, that I needed that, and he said in the story that the needs of the patient come first. I didn't know that he didn't like looking at himself, so he did this to help me right from my first appointment when I was doing sketches of him. He really loves the painting as does his family. I just had to show him how I saw him, but isn't that always the way it is? Sometimes others see something that we don't see in ourselves.
