@xanthe70 - Hello from Tinkerbell - I had the same problem 15 years ago. My husband does acupressure and it was the only way I got through 1 1/2 years of pain everyday. No one was willing to take my gallbladder out. I did not have stones and all the tests were normal. I had so many tests. About 9 months after starting with pain after eating, I went to Mayo Clinic. Everyone was wonderful but the surgeon said they could not take out my gall bladder unless they knew what was causing the pain. They had me see a doctor for pain medication but I did not want to take any medicine unless it was going to make me better. A year later I went to the Emergency Room and a doctor there said I needed to see a surgeon. I told him the whole story and he said I know a surgeon that will take your gall bladder out. At last some hope for getting rid of the pain. I saw the surgeon (his office was in the hospital) and he said I think you have a strawberry gallbladder. He said he had other cases like mine over the years. I had the surgery 1 1/2 years after my symptoms started. Finally I was pain free. Surgical Pathology Report - “Grossly no stones are identified. The average gallbladder wall thickness is 0.3 cm. The mucosa is finely granular but somewhat spiculated appearing suggesting cholesterolosis.” This is not the whole report. Spiculated means spiny.
Cholesterolosis of the gallbladder is the formal name for strawberry gallbladder. If you have any questions, just let me know.
