Side Effects of Shingles Vaccine

I got the flu shot and the new shingles vaccination 3 days ago. Today I started feeling sick to my stomach. I've never had a reaction to the flu shot and was wondering if anyone else felt sick after getting the shingles vaccine?

I got the new Shingles shot on 02/24/2020. The first day I felt oK. By day 2 I awoke with a stiff neck (I cannot turn my neck left or right, up or down to my chest), I had a fever of 100.9, my ears ache, I have body aches, a headache that feels like my skull will blow right open, swollen glands, night sweats, nausea, difficulty with breathing, periodic fevers that shoot up and then come down and a sore throat. This is the 6th day I am feeling very poorly. I called my physician to see if this could be from the shot or if this could be the coronavirus. I am 70 years old with many complex health issues. I am wondering if this is outcome of the shot how long should it continue? I am feeling slightly worse with each passing day. Loss of appetite, under the weather. I need to lie down. I have been using my oxygen. Any recommendations?

Amira, thanks for sharing. So sorry you are so ill. I had the new shingles shot about 2 yrs. ago -- (first one). I never went back for the 2nd one. Don't know if the 2nd shot would be effective now b/cuz too much time has passed. But thanks to YOU and some others here I certainly know to research it.

I've seen my gastro doctor, my family doctor, my eye dr and a neurologist who did 3 tests and the 4th one will be 3.18th. Been to the ER several time, panic attacks started in November and finally they are now gone. Everything started when I got the 2nd shot but no one knows yet what is wrong with me. As for the first shot, I think that's when my double vision started but I don't know if that is related or not. It's not in my head, that's for sure. I start rehab on the 12th for my neck and spine, and am going to ask about my right arm as that has been hurting for months. I stopped doing arm exercises at the Y but it never went away. I don't think that has anything to do with the shots. Tired of all the doctors and the bills that go along with it.

@dablues I'm glad that things are improving. I know many people who have had the vaccine without any problems but there is always that small percentage who is affected differently. At least you are back to exercising. That's a good sign. I hope you let us know how things turn out from your appointment on the 18th.
I have night sweats too but mine are from my immunosuppressant medications. They are very annoying.

I had my second doze of shingrex vaccine and since then have had burning sensations in my body that no one can find out why. Had MRI, Brain Scan, aetc. Can the vaccine give you problems? I looked up side effects but my problem was not listed.

I to have the burning feelings, starts behing the neck thru my back. Is causing the fist anxiety I have ever had, No fever, nigt=ht sweats worse in my life, beads sweat from my face. Have never had shingles. Have had to think if this is from a real anxiety attack of which I've never had. No got tested for Covid - results in 3-5 days . Butterflys in stomach. Brain with negitive thoughtswill cause another wave of the burning chills. So weird. Not told my PCP yet.

I have sent a message to my primary yesterday (day 6) telling her the same thing I have said here, but it is now Day 7. Stiff neck, pounding headache, swollen glands, ache all over, periodic fever, night sweats, etc. Nothing has really improved since my first message on this forum.

Gosh, I got a flu shot and shingles shot more than a week ago and I can’t shake the low grade fevers and stomach problems. I’m so very worried, so much so I got a Covid test which was negative. I’m so worried! What is happening?

#jakedduck1 Hi Jake The Dr told me about the eyes ,@neuropathy to see my Opthalmologist he had no clue in fact he didn't exam my back or look at me just ordered 2 xrays Dr said what I was told you get 2shingrex shots it's a better strain then the original one you got earlier as I did .One shot for pneumonia my Dr didn't say I needed another one

hi - I got a flu shot and my 2nd shingrix shot at the same time. i'm 81. i had some soreness in one arm. i don't remember if that arm was the shingrix arm or the flu arm. the soreness went away in about 1.5 days.

Each person is different. I had severe side effects that was with me a long time. Finally they went away and one of my doctors did research when I explained all that was happening since I had the shots. He tended to agree with me, since I did my research after having the shots. What is happening with your stomach?

@helloticha Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Experiencing low grade fevers and stomach problems, which may or may not be related to a flu and/or shingles vaccine is concerning. I'm wondering if you have contacted your provider regarding these symptoms? If you did reach out to the provider, what was their recommendation and/or opinion of your symptoms?

I got the pneumonia flu shot and a shingles vaccine all the same time adverse reactions still sick day three ache all over feels like I have the flu or got run over by a truck swollen glands major headache been taking Tylenol and Excedrin and that seems to break it I am running a low-grade fever Not sure if I’m going to go with the second shot for the shingles if it’s anything like this I would not go through this again
