@oldkarl I have had my esophagus scanned last year. They didn't find anything abnormal. They did not check eosinophil quantity. But since I have had the same problem for 10+ years, wouldn't any problem have manifested itself by now? My lungs are scarred from being exposed to TB bacteria in my childhood, although I never developed TB. I believe my bronchiectasis is the result of that exposure. I'm otherwise very healthy.

@ling123 About the problem being there 10 years. That means little. Only that the little details that would eventually show what the problem is has not yet come to the clear. 10 years ago my endoscopy came out clear. Now the esophagus may have to be replaced if I live long enough. Only the eosinophil values might have shown it 10 years ago. They did not. My brother in law has the same issue. They are now debating if it is worth it to cut and paste now, wait a year, or just forget it.
