The two professions reside in the same location at Mayo, Rochester. They work together with you to decipher what is best for the patients specific need. A baseline hearing test is typically done for every patient before seeing the otologist. There are so many options to improve loss of hearing. It's great that you are doing your research and being proactive in seeking healthcare. Make sure you search for a surgeon that is specialized and someone that will work to preserve the hearing your wife does have.
