Overdid it again!

Posted by ursweetpam @ursweetpam, Jul 25, 2018

I suffer from pain from failed back surgery syndrome, spondilitis, sciatica, herniated L4-L5,L5-S1, severe neuropathy from back surgery and many more thing than there is space to write. I have worked so hard to get myself able to walk again. It has literally taken me years to get where I am and in the course of a weekend...I totally set myself back to square one again. Thais weekend I moved and even though I am not supposed to lift more than a gallon of milk, I lifted boxes and tried to get myself and my son moved. I took my pain medication, used my tens and scs and as of Sunday I was in so much pain that it hurt to even breathe. I called my girls to come and help but I just feel so ashamed and embarrassed and sad because I had to call them over on their days ofc to do for me. I couldn't even get out of bed all day yesterday and forget sleep. I'm afraid I did something really bad to my back. I felt it pop when I was trying to stack a large box over my head. I know, I know, i shouldnt have even tried it but i did and now its too late. I'm not sure if I should go get it checked out of wait for a few days. Maybe I just overdid it and it's just angry muscles. What do you guys think?

I'm sorry to hear about your back issues being exacerbated by your move and overdoing it. I have done the same thing and was worried that I had really hurt myself again. I had a laminectomy 2 years ago on my L5-S1. I went to my chiropractor who treats me with Active Release Technique only to see if he thought I needed to see my physician/surgeon. I really trust his recommendations. He treated me, and I was back to normal in a few days. My husband also hurt his back in the move, refused to see my chiropractor or his own physician and was in bed for 3 weeks. It took him 6 weeks before he fully recovered. He doesn't know if he has disk problems because he chooses not to find out.

My recommendation, and I'm not a medical professional so this is from personal experience, is that you see your physician as soon as you can. Your situation sounds severe from your description. Your physician can order an MRI to determine how much damage was done. By the way, I'm happy to be off all my former pain killers as they allowed me to overdo it while I was taking them. They masked the pain as I was working. I was fortunate that I only unpacked boxes due to being aware of my pain levels. Even that was too much, but it was easier to have a healing treatment rather than needing an MRI, or being incapacitated for 6 weeks or permanently. See your doctor is my recommendation. I hope you find relief for your pain.

Lapinectony....what is that. I had crushed vertibrae and they filled spot in with, I believe concrete. Before proceedure I could not walk. After, I walked big time and never had any pain. However I was warned, the rest of my spine will be weak now. I moved a lightweight couch the other day and I could barely stand up. No more lifting period.

Everthing I know about Arac I've had to experience; and boy was that some miserable stuff. But about the pain from yout move. I thnk we all do it. And we all know we'll feel like slime when we next wake and, once again, put me moaning in the bed .In 48 years I
ve come up with : if our work habits are a tad overboard,it's got to do with the craving we have to be someone who appears normal... normal. I'm a recluse
