@ryman I am so sorry how you feel, it is frustrating. Some doctors don't understand when you say you have dizziness. I have definitely been there and still going through. I found out l was having some issues with some of my meds and l have talked to my doctors about it. A couple of my meds were recalled and l daught that before the doctors. I am not saying l don't still having problems with dizziness because l do have a liver condition and the doctors here are not up to date as some other states are. But usually l do know when l am going to be dizzy. I can't get out of bed and l have to call a family member to come to help me or l just stay in the bed until it passes. I am sti driving but if l get in the car and l am dizzy l won't drive. I don't drive on the highway but l think sometimes l might be dehydrated or didn't eat as much as l should. Last week l went to the doctor office and l just fell. I didn't feel dizzy but l just fell forward and l am so blessed l didn't knock my teeth out. And my husband was in the car waiting for me. My ammonia levels had been high and then when l went to the er they said it was low. I had to be admitted and for 2 days l couldn't get out of bed without assistance. Then they gave me a med l was allergic to and l had s reaction and right away l was told l was depressed. Then l was given aspirin and l have that on a my medical records l am allergic to it but my hematologist said it was okay to take. I know you are not suppose to have it when you have liver disease and l had a reaction. And bruises on my arms. So l just have to take it one day at a time and don't get discouraged. And l just have to pray because not everyone will understand even if you keep telling them. One nurse told me even through all you been through you are so upbeat and l told her l have too. I even had my hairdresser get mad at me when l was sick and l tried to have my sister take my place so she wouldn't lose any money. And she chewed me out but l acted like it didn't bother me because l did what was right and my health come first. So try and find out what your diagnosis is, write down all your symptoms. I have an app l log my information on. CareZone.com. You can record all your medications how you feel each day. Also you can have information passed on to family, friends and doctors. And remember you have to be your own advocate and if you have to change your doctors until you are heard then don't feel regretful because you and your health should be attended to. I hope that helps but remember to talk to your doctor with all of information.

It sounds as though you have really had it rough. I am so sorry. I have had this dizziness for so long and no one seems to understand how bad it is. I do what I can when I can . I don’t take a lot of meds and none of them cause dizziness. My thyroid has been up and down lately. Instead of sending me to a specialist to see what is going on, they just change the medication dose. I had Lyme that was undiagnosed for over a year. I think that is a lot of the problem but the doctors don’t think so. I changed doctors a couple years ago and was very happy with her until just recently. I think everyone has just gotten tired of it all, think I am putting it on or something. I wish you the best.

I feel with you but have been fortunate to find a doctor who will have time to listen and then the guts to experiment to find the medication that works for you. When I had dizziness it was actually from the medication I took and my Mayo trained doctor swiftly took me off and replaced with a much lighter medicine which I am happy with.
It is not easy to find a doctor who takes time but if you can try to either make appoint at Mayo or spend a bit of time researching a Mayo doctor in your area.
If I can find one in Bangkok I am almost certain you Will find one in your area as well. Best of luck from
Michael in bangkok

How do I go about finding a doctor that studied at Mayo or worked there?

@ryman l been their where doctors think you are making it up. I deal with that all the time and when l know more about my symptoms and diagnosis then they do then they really think you are making it up. I even given my doctors websites to look up my diagnosis and symptoms. They hate that but maybe you can go to the mayo clinic. I had to go 4 times last year and for me it's a 11hr drive. I met so many people who say they will keep traveling for the medical health then deal with the doctors they go to in there state. One man l met his oncologist doctor he goes to in his state said his cancer came back. Now l dont know if he had his surgery at the mayo hospital but he came back to his doctor at the mayo clinic to see what was going on. He came all the way back to the mayo clinic to find out his cancer didn't return. You can only imagine how he felt. We were talking and l told him it was a blessing he came back and that God was with him. I met so many people who came to the mayo clinic for a 2nd opinion. I pray you can find a good doctor because now it seems like they are hard to find. I was talking to my doctors PA and she was telling me a lot of the doctors are retiring due to medicare regulation and all the work on the computers they have to document so they can get paid. And some doctors really want to spend time with their patients. So don't give up and when you feel no one is listening to you, you always talk to us on the mayo connect it helps to see you are not alone.

Hi, @29821 - if you would like to find a Mayo Clinic alumnus, please see this tool on the Mayo Clinic Alumni page. https://alumniassociation.mayo.edu/people/

Go to People>Find Alumni, and then under Search Options, click on Show More. That will allow you to look by specialty and by city, state or zip code.

There must be help to get if you ask a moderator- I found my doctor by asking around in the hospital but that was more luck than design just asking all the nurses in Bangkok biggest and very famous university hospital - I was in icu but conscious and the doctor came to see me the following day and in good Mayo stile he said I can now take over as your lead doctor he did and all other appointments now go via his nurses that cuts down waiting time. I hope you find luck as I did

I use to get dizzy spells or a swimmy sensation. AWFUL! Could barely work. Spent a fortune on allergy shots and I bought the allergist several Mercedes Benzes. Lo and Behold, I moved to Austin, TX, and the doctor said I have no allergies. The wonderful allergist labeled me as having VASOMOTOR RHINITIS. You're allergic to weather changes. Something about the Barometric Pressure effects the brain. Yes, weather changes can make you sick. My Aunt had the same thing and would get sick, dizzy and completely out of sorts. Everybody would call her crazy like my allergist did in Savannah. He would make no money on prescribing ASTELIN for VASOMOTOR RHINITIS, so he put me on allergy injections for years. That way he would get RICH! Allergy injections did not help! I can tell when a weather changes appear within two days. When I get sick, I can barely write a coherent sentence. Your brain is effected in a weird way and it's awful. Hope that helps. It's common.
