I feel with you but have been fortunate to find a doctor who will have time to listen and then the guts to experiment to find the medication that works for you. When I had dizziness it was actually from the medication I took and my Mayo trained doctor swiftly took me off and replaced with a much lighter medicine which I am happy with.
It is not easy to find a doctor who takes time but if you can try to either make appoint at Mayo or spend a bit of time researching a Mayo doctor in your area.
If I can find one in Bangkok I am almost certain you Will find one in your area as well. Best of luck from
Michael in bangkok
How do I go about finding a doctor that studied at Mayo or worked there?
@ryman l been their where doctors think you are making it up. I deal with that all the time and when l know more about my symptoms and diagnosis then they do then they really think you are making it up. I even given my doctors websites to look up my diagnosis and symptoms. They hate that but maybe you can go to the mayo clinic. I had to go 4 times last year and for me it's a 11hr drive. I met so many people who say they will keep traveling for the medical health then deal with the doctors they go to in there state. One man l met his oncologist doctor he goes to in his state said his cancer came back. Now l dont know if he had his surgery at the mayo hospital but he came back to his doctor at the mayo clinic to see what was going on. He came all the way back to the mayo clinic to find out his cancer didn't return. You can only imagine how he felt. We were talking and l told him it was a blessing he came back and that God was with him. I met so many people who came to the mayo clinic for a 2nd opinion. I pray you can find a good doctor because now it seems like they are hard to find. I was talking to my doctors PA and she was telling me a lot of the doctors are retiring due to medicare regulation and all the work on the computers they have to document so they can get paid. And some doctors really want to spend time with their patients. So don't give up and when you feel no one is listening to you, you always talk to us on the mayo connect it helps to see you are not alone.
Hi, @29821 - if you would like to find a Mayo Clinic alumnus, please see this tool on the Mayo Clinic Alumni page. https://alumniassociation.mayo.edu/people/
Go to People>Find Alumni, and then under Search Options, click on Show More. That will allow you to look by specialty and by city, state or zip code.
There must be help to get if you ask a moderator- I found my doctor by asking around in the hospital but that was more luck than design just asking all the nurses in Bangkok biggest and very famous university hospital - I was in icu but conscious and the doctor came to see me the following day and in good Mayo stile he said I can now take over as your lead doctor he did and all other appointments now go via his nurses that cuts down waiting time. I hope you find luck as I did
I use to get dizzy spells or a swimmy sensation. AWFUL! Could barely work. Spent a fortune on allergy shots and I bought the allergist several Mercedes Benzes. Lo and Behold, I moved to Austin, TX, and the doctor said I have no allergies. The wonderful allergist labeled me as having VASOMOTOR RHINITIS. You're allergic to weather changes. Something about the Barometric Pressure effects the brain. Yes, weather changes can make you sick. My Aunt had the same thing and would get sick, dizzy and completely out of sorts. Everybody would call her crazy like my allergist did in Savannah. He would make no money on prescribing ASTELIN for VASOMOTOR RHINITIS, so he put me on allergy injections for years. That way he would get RICH! Allergy injections did not help! I can tell when a weather changes appear within two days. When I get sick, I can barely write a coherent sentence. Your brain is effected in a weird way and it's awful. Hope that helps. It's common.
It sounds as though you have really had it rough. I am so sorry. I have had this dizziness for so long and no one seems to understand how bad it is. I do what I can when I can . I don’t take a lot of meds and none of them cause dizziness. My thyroid has been up and down lately. Instead of sending me to a specialist to see what is going on, they just change the medication dose. I had Lyme that was undiagnosed for over a year. I think that is a lot of the problem but the doctors don’t think so. I changed doctors a couple years ago and was very happy with her until just recently. I think everyone has just gotten tired of it all, think I am putting it on or something. I wish you the best.
